Eureka’s Lady Tornado volleyball concluded their regular season last Tuesday when they traveled to Yates Center. The Lady Tornadoes struggled during the contest, coming home with one of four wins.
Tri-Valley cross country runners gathered last Thursday, October 12, in Fredonia, where Tornado runners claimed several honors.
Monday, October 9 proved to be a difficult day at the golf course in Girard as high school golfers merged on to the course for Regional action. The weather may have been perfect, but pin placements were not. With the placements being difficult, scores came in high before the turn. Multiple coaches voiced their concerns and a short break was taken between the front and back nine and hole placements were moved on five of the nine holes.
With hopes of fielding a team for a traveling youth softball team, Eureka residents Austin Evenson and Isaac Boone held tryouts and organized a Tornado Softball 8U team. The team is comprised of 10 players from Eureka and one each from Leon, Madison and Toronto.
The Kansas High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) announced post season play locations last week. The following are locations for area teams:
The Eureka Junior High Tornadoes football team finished their 2023 season with a 28-6 victory over the Bluestem Lions Thursday night at Leon. The Tornadoes played their best game of the season, showing great improvement from the opening game as the younger kids were able to play a substantial amount. Because of the blowout nature of the score, the Eureka eighth graders were not able to play as much as they wanted but they did finish well.

Three Lady Tornadoes traveled to Erie last Thursday for the annual junior varsity three-man scramble.
