The Eureka Lady Tornadoes opened the 2023-2024 season on the road versus the Independence Bulldogs on Friday, December 1. After a nearly undefeated season and a state appearance, the Lady Tornadoes had much to prove. However, they faced the pressure of the task with perseverance as they defeated the Bulldogs, 44-37.
Players selected for the South Central Border All-League Football team have been announced, with several area athletes receiving honors.
Sport: Boys Basketball Head Coach: Al Brown 1st Year Assistant Coach: Pat Patterson The Eureka Tornado boys basketball team is looking to improve this year, with first year head coach Al Brown. Eureka has four returning letter winners with seniors Cole Adkins and Lyle Perrier, junior Laken Valentine and sophomore TJ Mills. Eureka finished the 2022-23 season with a 3-18 overall record.Also participating for the Tornadoes are: senior: Jace Nixon; junior:Tanner Biering; sophomores:Timothy Aguilar, Nate Clark, Davian Damron, Jean-Phillippe Guillaume, Kaleb Hollis, Ben Ketcham, Lane Ledford, Cole Ptacek and Jonah Werner; and freshmen: Tyson Coon, Kotah Davis, Luc Guillaume, Easton Mead,Tristan Milner and Cooper Roberson.

Roster: Seniors: Cohen Luthi, Hayden Helm, Gannon Pyle, Lane Darbro, and Teagan Brinkmeyer; Juniors: Colton Isch, Will Grimmett, Ethan Hall and Packer Bollinger; Sophomores: Lane Smith, Ethan Jones and Octavian Dean; and Freshmen: Braden Grimmett, Colter Luthi and Jax Adams.
Lady Tornado junior Trinity Samuels received special honors recently as she was named to the All Tri-Valley League Honorable Mention team.
The Lady Tornado junior high wrestling team will conclude their season this week as they compete at home on Thursday, November 16 and at Coffeyville on Friday, November 17.
The West Elk Patriot football team moved to 9-1 for the year and continue on their road to state as they travel to Lyndon to take on the undefeated Tigers (10-0) this Friday, November 10, in the eightman division 1 playoffs.

Juniors Harlee Randall and Emily Scribner of Flinthills were named to the first team. Also joining them were Sophomores Autumn Coleman and Tori Morrison of Argonia, Seniors Pacey Sellers and Haley Sellers of Sedan and Junior Edee Boatman of CVD.
