Patriots Competed At Hesston

Two Patriots went undefeated at the Hesston Boys Invitational last Saturday, December 9, as junior Creyo Koop and senior Evan Coble claimed championship honors.

Two Patriots went undefeated at the Hesston Boys Invitational last Saturday, December 9, as junior Creyo Koop and senior Evan Coble claimed championship honors.

Following are the individual results for West Elk participants: 132 Boys: Evan Coble (9-1) placed 1st. He won by fall over Nate Chavez (Pratt) 2-4 (Fall 1:25); won by fall over Kash Henke (Belleville-Republic County) 7-3 (Fall 1:11); won a 10-2 major decision over Isaac Fall (Lyons) 3-6; won a 19-3 tech fall over Anakin Brown (Burden- Central) 6-4; and won a 7-6 decision over Connor Barnes (Smoky Valley) 9-2.

157 Boys: Nolan Denton (5-4) placed 5th. He lost by fall to Josef Planansky (Chaparral) 8-0 (Fall 0:56); lost by fall to Christian Erickson (Smoky Valley) 7-3 (Fall 1:18); received a bye; won by fall over Nick Kendall (Team X (unafilliated)) 4-4 (Fall 1:44); and won by fall over Dale Loughridge (Lyons) 1-4 (Fall 1:38).

165 Boys: Creyo Koop (10-0) placed 1st. He won by fall over Sawyer Stephens (Team X (unafilliated)) 1-9 (Fall 0:08); won by fall over Garrett Gattis (Kingman) 6-4 (Fall 0:29); won by fall over Skyler Smith (Chaparral) 6-4 (Fall 0:33); won by fall over Canon Copeland (Hesston) 5-2 (Fall 0:20); and won by fall over Alex Dyke (Belleville-Republic County) 9-1 (Fall 0:53).

175 Boys: Josh Patteson (6-4) placed 9th. He won a 3-2 decision over Benjamin Looper (Team X (unafilliated)) 2-5; lost by fall to Riley Queen (Halstead) 2-3 (Fall 1:00); lost by fall to Miles Easley (Burden-Central) 7-3 (Fall 1:29); won by fall over Jesse McBride (Oxford) 0-9 (Fall 0:25); and won by fall over Eli Miller (Hesston) 2-5 (Fall 3:16).

190 Boys: Landon Wunderlich (3-7) placed 8th. He won by fall over Jon Silba (Kingman) 3-5 (Fall 2:42); lost by fall to Grady Kuehn (Cheney) 3-2 (Fall 1:22); lost by fall to Geovanni Luis (Smoky Valley) 7-4 (Fall 2:39); lost by fall to Brandon Jones (Chaparral) 7-3 (Fall 3:46); and lost by fall to Jordan Goode (Halstead) 3-6 (Fall 5:48).

215 Boys: Boedy Murphy (7-3) placed 5th. He won by fall over Sergio Reyes (Chaparral) 3-5 (Fall 0:40); won by fall over Wyatt Starns (Cheney) 2-3 (Fall 2:31); lost by fall to Gabe Pedroza (Pratt) 4-2 (Fall 4:09); lost by fall to Conner Smith-Bolin (Smoky Valley) 5-6 (Fall 4:37); and won by fall over Thomas Jenkins (Hesston) 4-4 (Fall 3:38).

285 Boys: Edward Metcalf (0-4) placed 5th. He received a bye; lost by fall to Xavier Pedroza (Pratt) 4-3 (Fall 0:18); lost by fall to Danny Rivera (Lyons) 3-3 (Fall 0:16); lost by fall to Brayden Large (Hesston) 3-3 (Fall 0:18); and lost by fall to Jace Geans (Halstead) 1-5 (Fall 2:43).

Up Next

The Patriots were scheduled to travel to Erie for dual action with the Red Devils and the Fredonia Yellowjackets on Tuesday, December 12. West Elk will compete at the Hillsboro Dual Tournament on Friday, December 15. This will be their final outing before the winter break. They will return to action on Friday, January 6, at 9 a.m., in Burlington.
