Madison Bulldogs Claimed Season Opener Victories

The Bulldogs of Madison dominated the Yates Center Wildcats during their season opener last Friday night. Both the Madison girls and boys basketball teams more than quadrupled Yates Center’s score last Friday night.

The Bulldogs of Madison dominated the Yates Center Wildcats during their season opener last Friday night. Both the Madison girls and boys basketball teams more than quadrupled Yates Center’s score last Friday night.

Madison girls started strong with three Bulldogs scoring 13 points in the first and keeping Yates Center to a single basket. In the second, Madison added an additional 19 points and dominated defesively as they didn’t allow a single point in the second quarter. At halftime, the Lady Bulldogs lead 32-2. Madison continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring Yates Center 15-9 to win the game 4711. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Jalynn Weakley 17, Brooke Gaines 8, Lily Hudson 6, Caylin Luthi and Sadie Albert each with 5, Candice Ashlock 4 and Jenna Thomsen 2.

The Madison Bulldog boys nearly doubled Yates Center’s game total points in just the opening quarter as five Bulldogs tallied 24 points in the first stanza. Madison went on to win the game 54-13. Scoring for the Bulldogs were Colton Isch 17, Lane Darbro 13, Octavian Dean 7, Gannon Pyle 4, Cohen Luthi 3 and Brayden Grimmett, Will Grimmett and Ethan Jones all with 2.

Madison will compete in the Marmaton Valley Tournament this week. The Bulldogs are slated to travel to Waverly on December12.
