Alan and Joyce (Gibson) Hunter will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 28.
On June 5, at the Sauder Community Center in Madison, 26 members, four cloverbuds and one leader met during the Madison Pacesetters 4-H Club monthly meeting. June is one of the busiest times for the Madison Pacesetters because it is a month before the Greenwood County County Fair in Eureka.
This Saturday, June 22, the Eureka Lions Club will be hosting the inaugural “Fun Day in the Park” event at Lions Park, in Eureka.
Reports of harmful bluegreen algae in Kansas waterways have been coming in unusually early this year. This is possibly a result of warmer latespring weather and more rain events. Blue-green algae are not algae at all, but rather a type of bacteria called cyanobacteria. The bacteria thrive in warm, nutrient-rich water and, under the right conditions, can form blooms, called harmful algal blooms (HAB).
Dusty and Joni Booth of Eureka will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 22. The couple was united in marriage on June 22, 1974.

Commissioners met for their regular weekly meeting on Monday, June 16, where agenda discussion began with Road and Bridge Supervisor Allen Greenwood, who reported on department operation and sought clarification on items discussed prior to his time as department supervisor.
