The West Elk Patriot football team claimed another victory to move to 7-0 on the season, as they defeated Northeast Arma, 66-8.
West Elk dominated in the first quarter, scoring 58 points. The Patriots started their scoring with a safety, the first of three defensive points. The first touchdown for the Patriots was a 35-yard pass from Trent Haag to Creyo Koop. The two-point conversion attempt was good by Koop and the Patriots led 10-0. West Elk would score their next three touchdowns on rush plays, the first a 12-yard run by Koop and the next two by Haag, with 15- and 30-yard run plays. Twopoint conversion attempts were good by Garett Usry and Koop with the next two.
West Elk would again find the end-zone while playing defense. This time with Haag intercepting a Northeast Arma pass and returining it 58-yards. Koop was once again successful on the conversion attempt. The final offensive touchdown for the Patriots in the first quarter was on an 18-yard rush by Koop. The twopoint conversion attempt was good with a pass from Haag to Kase Kill.
To close out the first quarter, Patriot senior Boedy Murphy recovered a fumble in the end-zone to add six-points for West Elk. The two-point conversion attempt was good by Usry and the Patriots led 58-0 after the first.
West Elk again found the end-zone in the second with a 26-yard run by Gage Cook. Cook was also successful on the twopoint conversion attempt.
Before time expired in the first half, Arma would add eight-points of their own with a 29-yard pass play, and a conversion run.
The Patriots tallied 139 yards on 11 rushes and 88 passing yards, for a total of 227 yards.
West Elk will host Central Burden (1-5) for their final regular season game on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m. The Patriots will then host week nine action either Thursday, Oct. 31 or Friday, Nov. 1.
