Allen and Linda (Sears) Wunderlich will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, Jan. 19. The couple has two children, Wes Wunderlich of Eureka and Kelly Murphy of Moline; and four grandsons.
The Verdigris Valley Foundation will be serving a biscuit and sausage gravy breakfast on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Madison Sauder Center from 8 to 10 a.m. Proceeds from this event support the operation of the center and projects for the community.
Has our state been magically transported to the Arctic? We’ve had enough extreme cold and snow. It can move on to Spring now. We hope y’all stayed safe and warm this past week. This bone chilling cold has got to go! Minus temps and wind chills can be dangerous.
Several Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) wrestlers traveled to Burlington for the Doug Vander Linden Kids Classic on Sunday, Jan. 14, where several claimed hardware. Claiming top honors in their weight brackets were Jad Day, Maddox Ring, Tucker Williams, Noah Everly- Burtin, Elena McCoy, Adleigh Ray, Lakyn Mc-Coy, and Jadden Winn. David Stitt placed second. Those placing third included: Graham Bechtel, Carson Eismann, Oaklyn Smith, Brandon Cornett and Tate Scott and placing fourth were Kaydenn Winn, Kade Fisher, Keon Jones, Cort Decker, Carter Ring, Xander Turner and Felix Neill.
Former Eureka resident Jeannette L. Carter recently published a book entitled, “Last Night I Did What?: Humorous Stories for Baby Boomers.”
Collecting Toy Horses Hobby
On Saturday, Jan. 6, the Eureka Archery Club (EAC) held their annual Awards Banquet at Phillips Cabin. It began with a scrumptious potlock dinner followed by the annual deer contest winners. Each year, club members can enter into three deer contests. The Team Contest is a randomly drawn team of three aiming to collectively acquire the most score-able antler inches. A doe may be shot from each member to add an additional 25 points toward the team contest.
