TOPEKA – Secretary Janet Stanek, Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), announced that Dereck Totten, M.D., MPH, FAAFP, is the new Chief Medical Officer.

Marshall Elementary School released the second nine-weeks Principal’s Honor Roll (all A’s) and Honor Roll (A’s and B’s) for third through sixth grade students. Those students received their report cards when they resumed school, following the winter break. Students and parent/guardians were treated to cookies and milk/juice following a special recognition of the student’s success last Wednesday morning, Jan. 10. Students making the honor rolls were also given a Cherry Limeade. The special reception was sponsored by the Marshall Elementary PTA.

Following the 2023 local election and with the start of a new term, Mayor Dave Harris and Councilman Larry Walford were sworn in for continued service to the City of Hamilton. Christopher Ray was appointed to fill the vacant council seat. Ray had previously been appointed to fill the remainder of a term last year and had been serving on the council through the conclusion of 2023.
