Eureka Honors Club

The annual meeting of the Eureka Honors Club was called to order on April 18, at The Eureka Herald and via Zoom, at 12:05 p.m.

Club members in attendance included: (in person) Lexie Biering, Dr. Sarah Burke, Tammi Burtin, Paige Blakley, Alan Johnson and Robin Wunderlich; (via Zoom) Stephen Coulter and Brent Torrey.

Torrey made a motion for Wunderlich to continue serving as the club officers. Burtin seconded. Motion carried.

Wunderlich shared the treasurer’s report. Johnson made a motion to approve the treasurer’s report as presented. Burtin seconded. Motion carried.

Burtin made a motion to approve the April 20, 2023, minutes as presented. Burtin seconded. Motion carried. The group agreed to continue to recognize National Police Week and National EMS Week for local offices/ departments, with a food tray.

Calendar, Easter Egg Hunt, Banquet and Super Bowl committees were discussed. Wunderlich announced she will send a message to members asking if they would like to serve on a specific committee.

Dr. Burke made a motion to award scholarships to the honors club students who are graduating, as well as members of the graduating class who are relatives of club members. Biering seconded. Motion carried.

Discussion was held regarding increasing dues; however, those in attendance agreed to leave dues at the current rate and to discuss the item again at the annual meeting in 2025.

Wunderlich reminded members that the annual Honors Club banquet, recognizing the top six students at Eureka Junior/Senior High School (based on GPA), was scheduled for Wednesday, April 24.

Johnson made a motion to adjourn. Burtin seconded. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 12:30 p.m.
