Toronto News

Here it is, the last full week of April. Only six days until May 1. Did you do something good for our planet Monday? It was Earth Day. I saw a very fitting t-shirt for the day: “Leave behind only your footprints, not trash!” Such a simple little request, yet so many fail to respond accordingly. I also saw on TV that our national parks have signs everywhere, especially on hiking trails, pertaining to trash. If you take something in with you, make sure it leaves with you.

The Toronto Library had a book sale last Friday and Saturday as well as some baked goodies. Pictured here is Mandy Simon overseeing the sale Saturday morning.

This holds true for our state and city parks. Anything you carry in, you should carry out. The great outdoors is not your personal trash can. Pick up after yourselves!

What does the term “ailurophile” mean? Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

It was busy in town Friday and Saturday. The Woodson County-wide garage sales were this past weekend and several people had sales. I didn’t go to any but the one at the Toronto Library. I have more than enough stuff to have my own sale, but the library had some baked goodies.

Can’t pass on home baked goodies. Saw a lot of traffic running around town. I hope all that had a sale did well.

Answer: A person who loves cats.

I fixed some of the best chicken fried steaks the other day. I used some of the wonderful deer burger I was gifted last year. Man oh man were they ever good.

I mowed my lawn for the first time last week, or, most of it anyway. I mowed around the flowers (Dandelions, Star of David and whatever the others are called). My yard may look a little funny, but I don’t care. The honeybees and butterflies are more important than the lawns being neatly mowed, in my opinion.

Mother Nature sure needs to make up her mind on our temperatures lately. Arthritis sufferers understand what I’m saying.

We haven’t gotten much rain this month, so much for April showers. Although it is predicted for this week. Whatever the weather, have a good week.
