The West Elk Patriot wrestling teams opened their winter season last Friday, December 1, at the Wildcat Duals in Burlington. Patriot junior Creyo Koop went 5-0 at the tournament and was named to the All-Tournament team. He also pinned the four opponents he faced, with a combined total of 1:05 for the second place finish with the most pins in the fastest time. He won by default against Iola. The Eureka Lady Tornadoes opened the 2023-2024 season on the road versus the Independence Bulldogs on Friday, December 1. After a nearly undefeated season and a state appearance, the Lady Tornadoes had much to prove. City Of Eureka/IdeaTek Awarded Grant For Fiber Internet
During the November 27 meeting of the Eureka City Council, Mayor Stephen Coulter announced that fiber would be coming to town. Coulter told members of the council that he just received notification that IdeaTek and the City of Eureka had received a Broadband Acceleration Grant award for the amount of $879,977 to bring fiber to the community. Blue’s Place Now Open For Membership
With hopes of bringing another activity for local residents, especially during the winter months, local resident Tony Garner has brought golf simulators to Eureka. Two simulators are available for membership use at Blue’s Place, located at 810 N. Main, in Eureka.
