Monday, July 24, 2023 Eureka City Councilman Richard Drake brought the splash park to the floor for discussion. Drake told fellow city officials that many in the community had invested in the splash park, voicing concerns toward the prospects of the facility sitting idle until next spring. He told fellow members of the council that he felt the splash pad needed to run to avoid potential impact this could have on the system and spoke in favor of turning on the water at least once per week until Labor Day. As the item was discussed, it was noted that should water supply levels fall, the water features could be turned off again. City officials reached a consensus to turn on the splash park for use beginning as soon as possible.
