The Lady Tornado basketball team punched their ticket to the State Basketball tournament for the second season in a row, and for the third time in school history. Last week, they went 3-0 during the Pleasanton 2A Sub-State Tournament, defeating Pleasanton, Prairie Village Kansas City Christian and Shawnee- Maranatha Christian.
Mayor Richard Clark called the Feb. 5 meeting of the Howard City Council to order at 7:30 p.m. with council members Martin Hunter, Jerrad Pope and Gary Harrod present. Derek Cookson was absent. Also present were Shilo Crupper, Sarah Evans and Clerk Joanna Hunter.
Bulldog basketball played at home last Monday, Feb. 19 where they faced the Wichita Home School (WHS) Warriors.
The Eureka High School boys finished their regular season with a 33-57 loss at Olpe on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The Tornadoes experienced shooting woes that hadn’t plagued them recently but, especially in the first half, led to the lopsided loss. The Tornadoes hit on only 16 shots from the field out of 63 taken. Most of the shots were open looks at the basket but they just didn’t fall.

Three Patriot boy wrestlers traveled to Salina last Thursday, Feb. 22, for the three-day 3-1A State Wrestling Tournament.
Three Eureka Tornadoes traveled to Salina last week for the three-day state wrestling tournament. Eureka was represented by seniors Lyndsey Escareno and Makyla Gore and freshman Mason Hughes.
The West Elk boys basketball team traveled to Central-Burden last week where they faced the Raiders in their final regular season match-up.
The Lady Patriots got off to a slow start offensively last Tuesday, Feb. 20 on the road, where they faced Central.
