Tornado Softball Claimed Victories Over Central Of Burden

Eureka softball defeated the Raiders 8-1 and 6-2. The Lady Tornadoes fell to Bluestem, 0-16 and 0-20 on Monday, April 15.

Tornado baseball struggled last week, falling to Bluestem, 1-19 and 2-26, and falling to Burden, 3-13 and 2-27.

SOFTBALL

In the first game against the Lions of Bluestem, the Lady Tornadoes tallied a lone hit by Miley Baumgartel, who doubled in the top of the fourth, and seven errors which aided the Lions in scoring 16 runs off of 12 hits.

The Lions went 9-0 in the first inning and 11-0 in the second inning, in game two, before Eureka claimed a single by Abby Hatfield. The Lady Tornadoes lost the game 0-20.

Against Central of Burden, four Lady Tornadoes combined for seven hits. Eureka’s Raylee Boles, Keira Crisswell and Trinity Samuels joined forces in the first to claim their first of two hits. Samuels doubled to start the inning and scored on a wild pitch. Baumgartel scored as Madelyn Miller advanced on an error. Crisswell hit a triple scoring Miller before Boles singled and scored Crisswell. The Tornadoes were up 5-0 going into the second. Samuels claimed her second hit of game with a single on a bunt. She was able to steal her way around the bases and scored in the second.

Boles claimed a hit in the third but the Tornadoes were unable to add runs and maintained a 6-0 lead going into the fourth.

In the fifth inning, Crisswell began the offensive action with a single. Cheyenne Gardner hit a ground ball and advanced on an error while scoring Crisswell. Ellianna Coulter singled with a fly ball to center. The Tornadoes were unable to continue the momentum and ended the inning up 7-0.

Two errors in the sixth led to the Raiders earning a run before Boles struck out the batter.

In the bottom of the sixth, Samuels was hit by a pitch before working her way around the bases by stealing and scoring on a passed ball. Eureka won the game 8-1.

BASEBALL

The Tornadoes tallied three hits and one run in the first game against Bluestem; but Eureka allowed 17 hits and 18 runs during the game. Recording hits for Eureka were Davian Damron who doubled in the first (scoring Dalton Pool; Carl Biering who singled in the second and Jean Philippe Guillaume singled in the third.

Eureka claimed an early 1-0 lead over the Lions in game two, before allowing 10 runs in the second. The Tornadoes allowed a total of 17 hits and 26 runs during the game. Eureka recorded 6 hits and 2 runs.

Pool, Guillaume and Damron all singled in the first, with Damron recording an RBI as Biering got the Tornadoes on the board.

To open the third, Biering doubled with a hit to left field, Ethan Bauer followed with a single and Guillaume doubled with a fly ball to center to score Biering.

Eureka fell to Central of Burden, 3-13 and 2-27. Eureka’s Guillaume (x2), Damron, Tristan Milner and Bauer all claimed hits in the first game with Guillaume, Bauer and Biering all scoring for Eureka, in game one. Additional details were not available at the time of publication. Up Next

Tornado baseball and softball will face the Chargers at Cherryvale on Friday, April 26 before hosting Erie on Monday, April 29. Game time for both is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m.
