Loren Henry Wools, Jr. of Eureka, a man who could lay carpet as flawlessly as he served his country, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at St. Francis Hospice, in Wichita, at the age of 80. Loren was born March 21, 1944, in Topeka, the son of Loren Henry and Agnes P (Crouch) Wools. His Topeka roots ran deep and he graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1962, leaving his mark on the school’s athletic scene.

The Eureka Music Club met Monday, April 8, at the Eureka Christ Lutheran Church, with fourteen members present.
CHADRON, Neb. Chadron State College (CSC) students and employees gathered for the ninth annual Rising Sophomore awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 17. Dr. Jim Powell, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Chadron State College, was the keynote speaker. He came to CSC in 2015 as the Dean for Assessment, Accreditation, Curriculum and Education, Human Performance, Counseling, Psychology, and Social Work. Powell, who became the Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2020, is retiring at the end of June. Grady Fox, of Severy, was among the list to receive an award, under the subject of history. He is pursuing a degree in Social Science, grades 7-12.
