On July 29, the Madison Pacesetters 4-H Club held its August monthly meeting at the fairgrounds during the Greenwood County Fair. Thirty-four members, three cloverbuds and two leaders attended the meeting. Members shared a pizza lunch to celebrate the last day of the fair.

In his leader’s report, Ty Gaines discussed a few things with the club. He wanted to remind members that they are in charge of getting the Kansas State Fair entries to the state fair this year. T. Gaines then recognized the graduating seniors for their hard work throughout the years and wished them luck at college. Finally, T. Gaines shared some critical dates for the month. These dates included: Kansas State Fair entries were due to the Extension Office on Aug. 5, the club served at the SEK Coop dinner on the 6th, and Kansas Junior Livestock Entries were due by the 15th.

The fair was busy for the Greenwood County Councilmen and 4-H Ambassadors. Makenna Engle shared with the club that the council met during the previous week’s fair cleanup. Brooke Gaines reported that Fair Bingo was a success and that the ambassadors have volunteered for some community service for the Greenwood County Health Department. Member birthdays for August were Jorja Beeman, Caylin Luthi, Kenyon Curry and Kiah Luthi.

The next meeting will be on Sept. 11, following the annual Buyer’s Appreciation Meal.
