Red Cross Facing A National Blood Shortage

The American Red Cross is experiencing a national blood shortage. Fewer donors than needed gave this summer, drawing down the national blood supply and reducing distributions of some of the most needed blood types to hospitals. Hurricane Idalia further strained the blood supply with blood drive cancellations and reduced blood and platelet donations in affected areas.

Eureka Junior High Volleyball Went 1-3 Against Fredonia Yellowjackets

The Lady Tornado volleyball team traveled to Fredonia last Thursday to battle the Yellowjackets in four matches. Eureka went 1-3 against Fredonia with the B-team defeating the Jackets, 25-16 and 25-18. Eurekas A-team fell 22-25 and 20-25. The C-team lost 11-25 and 8-25 and the D-team lost 14-25 and 15-25. Lady Tornado volleyball players include: A-team: Sydney Lindamood, Abbi Foth, Lylly Stapleford, Karsyn Osborne, Arabella Shepherd, Emma Baumgartel, Jersey Cox, Celona Hall and Annabell Bogle; B-team: Monica Sanchez, Foth, Stapleford, Baumgartel, Amorette Guillaume, Hall and Bogle; C-team: Sanchez, Autumn Burton, Khloe Grimmett, Novah Ogden, Sofia Escareno, Guillaume, Annabella Keating, Chevelle Chastain and Alyssa Stephenson; and D-team: Burton, Grimmett, Escareno, Keating, Chastain, Stephenson and Ogden.

The Eureka Junior High Tornadoes evened their record at 1-1 Thursday night with a gritty 2216 win over the Fredonia Yellowjackets. The Tornadoes opened and finished strong, getting off to a lead in the first quarter and, after falling behind in the second, dominating the entire second half to earn the victory.
