East Central Kansas Model T Club
The East Central Kansas Model T (ECKMT) Club meets the second Thursday of the month. The ECKMT’s will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 in the conference room of the Burlington Kansas Library. The Library is located on Highway 75 in Burlington. The main entré and drinks will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish to share with the meal which will be eaten before the meeting.

Eureka Honors Club Recognized Top Six Students At EHS
A total of 30 Eureka Junior Senior High School (EJSHS) students were honored last Wednesday, April 24, during the ninth annual Eureka Honors Club honors banquet. The top six students, based on grade point average, in the freshman, sophomore, junior and senior grade levels were recognized. A tie in the freshmen and sophomore classes resulted in nine students being honored.

Junior Golf Program To Begin May 23
The 2024 Junior Golf Program, sponsored by the Eureka Recreation Commission and the Eureka Country Club, will begin practice Thursday, May 23 and will then practice Tuesday, May 28, Thursday, May 30 and the following Monday’s in June: 3, 10, 17 and 24. Ages 9-11 will practice from 8 to 10 a.m., ages 12-18 will practice from 10 a.m. 12 p.m.

Perkins Among Students Inducted Into Phi Alpha Theta
On Wednesday, April 24, Emporia State University’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences hosted an induction and awards reception for students who have excelled and demonstrated a high regard for History. Undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 12 semester hours (4 courses) in History, earned in the classroom, online or through AP or transfer credits (or a combination thereof). A minimum GPA of 3.1 in History and 3.0 GPA overall are required.

ESU Fall 2023 Honor Roll
EMPORIA - Over 700 undergraduate students of Emporia State University were named to the university honor roll. Local students earning the honor were: Victoria Perkins of Eureka, Bryson Turner and Laramie Walford of Hamilton, Ava Foltz, Josie Reed, Logan Roth, Katie Sherman, and Taylor Williams all of Madison.

Area Softball And Baseball Players Featured As “Players To Watch” By Wichita Eagle
With baseball and softball seasons in full swing, The Wichita Eagle recently compiled a list of individuals and teams in the area to watch. Several Eureka Tornadoes and West Elk Patriots were on the list.
