Four Junior High Tornadoes Broke School Records At Neodesha Meet

On Monday, April 22, Eureka Junior High track traveled to Neodesha to compete and four Tornadoes set new school records.

Lady Tornado eighth grader Sydney Lindamood placed second in triple jump, with a jump of 25’ 5.5”. This jump beat a 2006 school record of 24’ 10.25” set by Brittney Shaw.

Eureka’s Arabella Shepherd, also an eighth grader, broke her own record (set earlier this year with a throw of 66’ 0”) and set a new school record in the Javelin, with a throw of 74’9”.

Tornado seventh grader Maddox Hughes placed third in the triple jump with 30’5”, breaking the 2006 record set by Thomas Lowe, who jumped 27’ 11 1/4”.

Eureka’s Will Morris, an eighth grader, also broke a school record in the triple jump. He leaped for 29’ 4”, breaking the 2006 record set by Scott Hughes, with a jump of 23’ 10 3/4”.

Medals were awarded to the following: 7th Grade Girls: scored 71 points taking second place out of nine teams: Emma Baumgartel: 1st place in the Pole Vault with a jump of 6’ 0”. Winnie Brenckman: 2nd place in the 100M Dash with a time of 14.85; 3rd place in the 100M Dash with a time of 32.38. McKenna McDonald: 2nd place in the High Jump with a jump of 4’6”; 1st place in the 800M Run with a time of 2:52.44; 1st place in the 400M Dash with a time of 1:11.97. 4x100 Meter Relay (consisting of Madalyn Langer, Abbi Foth, Baumgartel and Annie Bogle): 3rd place with a time of 1:02.57. 4x200 Meter Relay (consisting of Foth, Baumgartel, Bogle and Brenkman): 3rd place with a time of 2:12.34.

8th Grade Girls: scored 49 points taking 5th place out of 11 teams: Lindamood: 2nd place in the Triple Jump with a jump of 25’ 5.5”; 3rd place in the 100M Dash with a time of 14.49. Rose Owens: 2nd place in the Long Jump with a jump of 14’ 2.5”. Shepherd: 3rd place in Discus with a throw of 69’ 0”; 1st place in Shot Put with a throw of 30’ 11.5”; 1st place in the Javelin with a throw of 74’ 9”.

7th Grade Boys: scored 70 points taking 2nd place out of 11 teams: Hughes: 3rd place in the High Jump with a jump of 4’ 2”; 2nd place in the Pole Vault with a jump of 6’ 6”; 3rd place in the Triple Jump with a jump of 30’ 5”. Caden Nusz: 2nd place in Discus with a throw of 70’ 8”; 2nd place in the Javelin with a throw of 69’ 3”. JaKolby Robbins: 3rd place in Shot Put with a throw of 26’ 10”; 1st place in the Javelin with a throw of 85’ 2”. Tate Scott: 1st place in the Pole Vault with a jump of 6’ 6”.

8th Grade Boys: scored 46 points taking 4th place out of 11 teams: Brody Mitchell: 3rd place in the High Jump with a jump of 5’ 0”. Will Morris: 2nd place in the 3200M Run with time of 12:34.92; 3rd place in the Triple Jump with a jump of 29’ 4”. Jameson Stewart: 1st place in Discus with a throw of 126’ 10”; 3rd place in Shot Put with a throw of 38’ 7”.

Up Next

The Eureka Tornadoes were scheduled to compete at Bluestem on Monday of this week for their annual Tri-Valley League meet to conclude the season. Eureka hosted their annual meet last Thursday, April 25, but cancelled the meet due to inclement weather.
