Blue’s Place Now Open For Membership

With hopes of bringing another activity for local residents, especially during the winter months, local resident Tony Garner has brought golf simulators to Eureka. Two simulators are available for membership use at Blue’s Place, located at 810 N. Main, in Eureka. In addition to the golf simulators, those using the facility will be able to play cornhole, putt on putting greens and play pool, all inside the facility.

Greenwood County Hospital Received Performance Leadership Award

On Thursday, November 30, Greenwood County Hospital (GWCH) Board of Trustees were notified that the facility had received a Performance Leadership Award from Chartis in the field of quality. This is a nation-wide annual honor that recognizes performance in rural hospitals. “We have been working very hard at increasing our percentage rankings in this area,” commented Hospital CEO Sandy Dickerson. She continued, “The staff has done an excellent job and is to be commended on this achievement.”

Fiber Internet Coming To Eureka

Residents and businesses in Eureka will soon have access to highspeed, reliable fiber-optic internet thanks to a grant awarded to IdeaTek Telcom, who was one of eight internet service providers (ISPs) in the latest round of the Broadband Acceleration Grants. The grant awarded $5 million to those ISPs which will be paired with an additional $6.6 million in matching funds, resulting in an investment of nearly $12 million for high-speed broadband access projects across 10 rural Kansas counties.
