More than a decade ago, city officials started looking at new signage ideas; however, due to funding options, the project didn’t move forward. That was until the City of Eureka applied for a Strategic Economic Expansion and Development (SEED) grant and was awarded funds towards the directional s i g n a g e project as well as three projects for county libraries.
With the help of Evergy, assisting with the digging of the holes, and Invena, donating time and resources for the project, the City of Eureka was able to bring the new signage project to life. Directional signage is expected to be added soon.
SEED grants benefit Kansas communities under 5,000 in population through investments in economic revitalization. SEED grants are funded under the Technology-Enabled Fiduciary Financial Institutions Development and Expansion Act, which was enacted in 2021. The SEED grant program is administered by the Kansas Department of Commerce.
