Lady Tornado Wrestlers Battled At Coffeyville
Lady Patriot Kayla Wright went 3-0 at the Hesston Invitational last Saturday, December 9, to claim championship honors in her weight bracket to kick off the season. Wright, a senior, pinned all three of her opponents. Also representing West Elk was Marisa Ghramm.
The Eureka Tornadoes played in the annual Marion Classic basketball tournament this past week in Marion. The Tornadoes opened tournament play with a 55-40 loss to Berean Academy. The second game they played was a loss to host Marion High School, 55-41. They lost the third game, to Halstead High School, 73-51. Despite losing every game in the tournament, the Tornado cagers played really well.
Multiple Bulldog Football players were named to the eight man-1 all-district football teams. “We are very proud of our Bulldogs who were selected for this list, as many of the coming all state picks for this year will come from our district,” shared Bulldog head coach Nathan Teichgraeber. District 2 is home to this year’s state champions, two sub-state teams and three teams that participated in 8M-1 quarterfinal action.
Last Saturday, December 9, the Eureka Tornado Junior High Basketball teams hosted an A-team tournament with Eureka, Olpe, Douglass and Yates Center all competing.
Members of the Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) traveled to Emporia on Sunday of this week to compete in the Gene White Memorial.
Members of the Eureka Tornado boys wrestling team traveled to Minneapolis over the weekend for the Jeff Giles Invite.
Eureka’s Lady Tornado high school basketball team took fourth place at the Marion Classic, going 1-2 for the week.
