Madison Bulldog basketball teams made the short trip to Olpe last Friday night, Jan. 12, to take on the Eagles.
The Lady Bulldogs battled in the first half with both Madison and the Eagles scoring 17 in the first and 6 in the second, to go into halftime at 23 all. Coming back from the intermission, the Lady Dawgs went 17-10 to take the edge going into the final stanza. Madison continued to pull away in the fourth as they outscored Olpe, 14-10, to win the game 54-43. Scoring for Madison were Jalynn Weakley 24, Candice Ashlock 17, Jenna Thomsen 5, Caylin Luthi 4, Brooke Gaines 3 and Sadie Albert 1.
Madison boys were only able to count three baskets in the first quarter and trailed 6-16 going into the second. The Bulldogs matched Olpe in the second, both scoring 10, but Madison trailed by 10 going into the second half, 16-26. Madison scored 26 in the second, but it wasn’t enough as the Eagles tallied 34 and the Bulldogs lost the game 44-60. Scoring for Madison were Lane Darbro 13, Colton Isch 11, Cohen Luthi 9, Cade Hurlburt 6, Lane Smith 3 and Gannon Pyle 2.
