Junior High Tornado basketball competed at Galesburg last Thursday, Jan. 12 A-team girls went 8-0 with Galesburg in the first quarter. Despite the Timberwolves’ work to reduce the deficit, Eureka held onto their lead, going 10-6 into the half. The Tornadoes knocked down 5 shots to tally 11 points in the third quarter. Eureka claimed the win, 21-14. Scoring for the Tornadoes were: Karsyn Osborne 5; Sydney Lindamood, Annabell Bogle and Jersey Cox with 4 points each; Lylly Stapleford and Arabella Shepherd each with 2.
B-team Lady Tornadoes had a rough start against the Timberwolves, failing to put points on the board in the first period and sitting 0-6.
Despite going point for point with Galesburg in the second and third quarters, Eureka still trailed by 6 going into the final period. Eureka fell to Galesburg, 10-18. Scoring for the Lady Tornadoes were: McKenna McDonald 4 and Amorette Guillaume, Celona Hall and Bogle with 2 points each.
Boys
Eureka’s A-team boys trailed by 11 at the end of the first period and were unable to put points on the board in the second quarter. Eureka went to halftime 5-26. Before concluding the game, the Tornadoes tallied 5 additional points, falling to Galesburg, 40-10. Scoring for Eureka were: Tate Scott and Eli Mason with 4 points each and Brody Mitchell with 2 points.
B-team boys were down by 4 points going into the second quarter. Eureka fought to reduce their deficit before halftime, sitting 12-14 before heading into the third period. After knocking down 5 shots, Eureka was down 1 moving into the final quarter. Galesburg tallied 13 points in the fourth quarter to claim the win, Eureka falling 25-36. Scoring for the Tornadoes were: Escareno 11, JaKolby Robbins 5, Maddox Hughes 3 and Wacey Ross, Will Morris and Henry Perrier with 2 points each.
Following two quarters against Galesburg, C-Team Tornadoes claimed the win, 10-4. Scoring for Eureka were: Dylan Conard, Ryan Miles, Perrier, Robbins and Christian Sanchez all with 2 points.
