Eureka USD 389 Board Of Education Approved Gym Flooring Repairs After Roof Leak

Following water damage to the main gym floor at Eureka Junior/Senior High School (EJSHS), the Eureka USD 389 Board of Education began soliciting bids to replace the gym floor. It is believed that the damage was the result of a roof leak, following a heavy rainstorm over a weekend that left standing water on the gym floor. This caused the floor to warp in places. During their routine monthly meeting on May 13, Superintendent Scott Hoyt shared that he was working with insurance and Stanfield Roofing on the matter. He further noted that the district had received one bid, but was hopeful to gather additional bids and share with the board at a later date. On Wednesday of last week, the board met for a special meeting to discuss the floor bids, employment and a retirement. They reviewed the following bids: Great American Hardwood Flooring, $221,530 plus a quote from Heartland Seating to move the bleachers for $18,990, totaling $240,520 (timeline of project, end of June with completion slated for Sept. 1); Lankford Enterprises Inc., $247,150, includes bleacher movement, (timeline of project, June 10 to August 1) and Baseline, $232,050 plus a quote from Heartland Seating to move the bleachers for $18,990, totaling $251,040. The board approved the bid from Lankford Enterprises Inc., with hopes the project will be completed before school resumes this fall.
