Community Benefit Women’s Educational Club

The Community Benefit Women’s Educational Club (WEC) Greenwood County, held their monthly meeting at Greenwood County Historical Society and Museum, Eureka, on Sept. 19, at noon with a luncheon. Hostess was Patsy Garner. Roll call was answered by fifteen members and guest, Robin Himes, Museum Director. Each person shared a favorite school memory.

The program was presented by Himes. She gave a brief history of the museum along with future projects that are being pursued. A flyer was shared telling the proposed steps to move and restore the Claycomb School, District 91. Jim Hoy will be sharing a program entitled “Kansas Legends and Folktales” to be presented at the museum on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at 120 West Fourth Street, Eureka. It was very interesting to learn how the displays are changed and the

many number of artifacts available for display at the Museum. Members toured the museum following the program. Greenwood County Historical Society and Museum receives a portion of the funds collected at the annual ice cream social and auction held each August at the Piedmont Community Center.

Their next meeting will be “Holiday Happenings” at Eureka Methodist Church on Nov. 21, at 1:30 p.m.
