The Eureka USD 389 Board of Education held a routine business meeting for their September meeting on Monday, Sept. 9.
Mayor Stephen Coulter signed a proclamation at the Sept. 9 City Council meeting declaring the week of September 17 – 23, Constitution Week for the city of Eureka. Greenwood County members of the Susannah French Putney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) were in attendance to witness the signing.
The Greenwood County Historical Society will host “Kansas Legends and Folktales,” a presentation and discussion by Jim Hoy on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Greenwood County Museum, 120 W. 4th Street, in Eureka. Members of the community are invited to attend the free program. Contact the Greenwood County Historical Society at 620-583-6682 for more information. The annual Life Chain will be held on Sunday, October 6, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the corner of River and Main Streets in Eureka. All Christians of all ages are encouraged to participate in this annual event, which takes place in communities across the country in defense of human life and the unborn child.
The first meeting of the Marshall Elementary PTA was called to order on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 5:35 p.m. at Marshall Elementary by President Beth Whitehead. In attendance were two school representatives, including Principal Stacy Coulter and 10 parents with three of those being current officers. No previous meeting minutes were to be read as this was the first official meeting of the school year.
