Two senior Lady Bulldogs were named to the Eureka Volleyball Invitational All-Tournament team on Saturday, Sept. 14, in Eureka, as seniors Jalynn Weakley and Candice Ashlock were named to the special team.
Lady Tornado senior Keira Crisswell made the short trip to Sierra Hills on Tuesday, Sept. 10, where she competed in the Andover Central Invitational.
The Eureka Junior High Tornado football team traveled to Caney Valley Thursday to take on the Bullpups in a TVL contest. The Tornadoes played poorly and lost the game 0-38.
Eureka volleyball was plagued with consecutive errors during their annual volleyball tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14; but, found their rhythm in the final set, ending the day with a victory.
The Eureka Tornadoes won a hard fought battle against the Fredonia Yellowjackets to improve to 2-0 on the season, last Friday, Sept. 13. The Tornadoes started their home opener featuring Hometown Heroes selected by the Class of 2025. The Tornado football team then claimed a 20-14 victory over the Yellowjackets.
Living historians will create a rendezvous of our American history from 1800 to 1840 on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fredonia Bay Area at Fall River State Park. A time when the mountain men and American Indians would bring their furs to be traded for items needed to get them through the winter to come. Guests can enjoy a black powder shoot, tomahawk throw and other historical demonstrations throughout the day. A food truck will have lunch available on Saturday. The event is to celebrate National Public Lands Day with admittance to the Fall River State Park being free entrance day. Bring your family out and step back to 1824.

The Eureka Garden Club met for their first meeting of the year on Friday, Sept. 5, at TNT Catering. President Vicki Lindsey called the meeting to order. She expressed appreciation to Loria Howard and Rise Russin for serving as hostesses. Ten members and one associate member answered roll call. New committee members will be Cammie Wilson and Kathy Jackson: Mini Garden Committee, Sheila Hughes: Memorial Committee; and Carol Ann Flock: Courtesy Committee. Plans were made to have a Silent Auction in November and a Plant Exchange in April. Howard and Russin presented the program by having members share what they liked or wanted to see improved in the Mini Garden and their home gardens.
