The East Team claimed the crown at the inaugural KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals on Sunday, March 17, at Fugate Gymnasium on the campus of Newman University in Wichita. In a tightly contested dual, the East prevailed by a final team dual score of 72-62, by winning five of the final six matches in the dual. The East had a 15-13 edge in individual match wins during the dual.
TOPEKA - Last week, Senate Bill 135 was introduced in the Kansas Legislature that, if approved, would launch a pilot medical cannabis program allowing patients diagnosed with at least one of 16 covered medical conditions to seek relief through their primary care physician.
Each month, local schools are required to conduct a crisis drill. Last Thursday, Marshall Elementary School was able to show how doing these drills routinely proves beneficial. Last Thursday, March 21, faculty/staff and students were able to put those practices to use during a fire alarm.
Preparation work was recently completed for the Hamilton USD 390 Greenhouse project and efforts have now turned towards framing of the structure.

The third annual Lloyd Leitzel Memorial Scramble, a Flint Hills 3-D archery shoot, will be held on April 20 and 21, at 2135 S Road, in Eureka. The two-day event, hosted by the Eureka Archery Club, will begin with a shotgun start on Saturday, at 9 a.m., with an individual 3-D 30-target shoot. There is a youth, adult and proclass division, offering the following classes: Open (50-yard max), Hunter (40yard max), Women’s (35yard max); Youth 16 & under (35-yard max) and Pro Class (50-yard max). The pro-class will have 50% payback. The other classes will offer added money for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
The local Girl Scouts, with the assistance of the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, hosted their annual seatbelt safety check point last Wednesday, March 20, at the intersection of 7th and Main Streets, in Eureka.
