Greenwood County Fair Events Began On Saturday, June 22

The Greenwood County Fair kicked off with participants competing in three different events over the weekend. Two local 4-Hers traveled to Fredonia to compete in the multi-county Dog Show and both earned top honors and will represent Greenwood County at State. Shooting Sports was also held over the weekend with the annual archery and shotgun contests.

Two local 4-Hers traveled to Fredonia to compete in the multi-county Dog Show and both earned top honors and will represent Greenwood County at State. Shooting Sports was also held over the weekend with the annual archery and shotgun contests.

The 2024 Multi-County 4-H Dog Show was held at the Old Iron Club grounds in Fredonia on Saturday. This multi-county event consists of 4-H Dog exhibitors from the Rolling Prairie and Wildcat Extension Districts as well as Greenwood County. This show consists of competitive events in Agility, Rally, Obedience and Showmanship.

Greenwood County was represented well by Jersey Cox of the Fancy Mustangs 4-H Club and Savannah Bruno-Pelky of the Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club. Cox competed with her dog Cowboy and Bruno Pekly with her dog Kira. Cox received a Red ribbon in Novice Obedience, Blue in Intermediate Showmanship, and Purple in Rally I. Bruno- Pelky received a Purple in Senior Showmanship, and Purple in Rally I.

Both qualified to compete at the Kansas 4-H Dog Show in Showmanship.

Results from archery and shotgun will be included in next week’s edition.
