On Tuesday, June 18, members of the Hamilton City Council held a special meeting for consultation of their treasurer as they look at plans for a street project. Also included on the special meeting agenda was discussion of the attorney position. As attorney candidate Clark Allemang was unable to be present, discussion of this subject was postponed and is to be revisited at a later date.

Hamilton City Treasurer Cindy Hardin was present for budgetary consultation in conjunction with a proposed street surfacing project. A special meeting was necessitated as there is a short 30-day window to take advantage of the bid provided by APAC which included a reduced mobilization fee.

Interest in meeting with Hardin was sparked after the bid received for addressing W Road and Lincoln Streets leading to the school, came in over the $35,000 in the street budget.

Hardin advised that dollars from the general fund could be applied towards a project. She shared that the current balance was $61,000, but would soon be sitting at approximately $68,000.

Budget consideration was held as council members looked to determine a street project that could be supported through available funds, while taking into consideration future needs. Officials are looking to perform as much as feasible through budgeted funds, to take advantage of the reduced mobilization rate. Discussion was had in regards to reducing work on Lincoln Street from the original proposal, removing two blocks which are in good condition and adding Jackson to 2nd Street and 2nd Street north to Lincoln Street.

Questions will be posed to APAC in regards to bid numbers to include inquiry in relation to cost related to proposed adjustments to the project scope. Council members were hopeful that APAC would honor their bid longer than the 30-days outlined in the document and the subject could then be revisited during the next regular meeting. A special meeting could potentially be announced, if necessitated, for discussion with the attorney candidate and continued discussion of streets. This is subject to change depending on what is deemed necessary for discussion.

Councilman Larry Walford was absent from the meeting.

The next regular meeting of the Hamilton City Council will be held Tuesday, July 9 at 7 p.m.
