Alan and Teresa (Bane) McCoy will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on May 18. The couple was married in Eureka in 1974. They currently reside in Oakley.

Governor Laura Kelly has sent a letter to FEMA asking for an extension to submit a request for a major disaster. The letter asks for an extension to July 29, 2024, to submit for the public assistance program for severe thunderstorms that impacted the state April 25-30, accompanied by large hail, damaging straight linewinds, tornadoes, and tor-rential rainfall resulting in flooding.
Eureka Junior High track hosted their home Invitational on Thursday, May 25. The track meet was cut short, due to inclement weather, but multiple athletes claimed hardware before the event was canceled.

The following Eureka Junior High Students received Tornado Awards at their assembly on May 7.
Four Eureka seniors were recognized last Tuesday, May 7, during the 2024 Tornado awards as they completed Spanish I, II, III and IV.
MANHATTAN – Eight area students have been awarded scholarships to Kansas State University totaling $5,200. The scholarships were awarded by the Flint Hills Catbackers, the Col. Gayle Foster Endowed Scholarship Fund and the K-State Alumni Association.
