SEKLS Held Annual Board Meeting

Member libraries in the Southeast Kansas Library System attended the System’s (SEKLS) annual board meeting held at the Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center SEK Impact Conference Center, located at 1500 W. 7th Street, in Chanute, on Sept. 6. The Board presented the System’s 2025 Budget and held the Revenue Neutral Rate and Budget Hearings prior to the board meeting. The meeting was part of a day of continuing education events, including keynote speaker Pam Hamilton of Hamilton Counseling and Consulting who presented “Stressed out, Burned Out and Looking for a Way Out?” Public, academic and school library staff, trustees and county appointees to the system board participated in roundtable discussions about timely topics, such as advocacy and training.

Sean Bird, President of the Kansas Library Association, provided an update on library legislation and Deborah Miller brought therapy dogs and discussed how they may be used in library programming. The SEKLS is one of seven regional library systems tasked with providing consulting, grant funding and services.
