The West Elk Patriots will kick off the 2024 Fall Homecoming Celebration with a bonfire in the south parking lot at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19. Community members are welcome to attend.
On Friday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m., the Homecoming Parade will take place on Wabash Street in front of Family Market, Howard State Bank and Commerce Bank. The West Elk Booster Club will begin serving its annual Tailgate Supper at 5:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., the West Elk Patriot Football team will host Udall. Finally, the Homecoming Ceremony will take place after the football game.

The Homecoming Theme is “Face-Off” with “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac being the homecoming song. Special days of the week are as follows: Tuesday, Sept. 17 - BBQ Dad vs. Soccer Mom; Wednesday, Sept. 18 - Surfers vs. Bikers; Thursday, Sept. 19 - Frat vs. Farmers; Friday, Sept. 20 - WE vs. Udall: Red, White, and Blue.
Briea McGee, daughter of Joseph and Martha McGee of Grenola, will be escorted by Josh Patteson, son of Wade Patteson of Moline and Amy Bliss of Howard.
Jaicey Tillapaugh, daughter of Shannon Tillapaugh of Howard, will be escorted by Trent Haag, son of Chris and Megan Haag of Howard.
Josey Toon, daughter of Joseph and Candace Toon of Howard, will be escorted by Kase Kill, son of Travis and Lynnette Kill of Howard.
Larissa Vanderhagen, daughter of Jerad and Jodi Vanderhagen of Grenola, will be escorted by Maddex Moreno, son of Bob and Krista Moreno of Moline.
The kindergarten attendants are: Carly Fulsom, daughter of Alex and Kayla Fulsom of Howard and John Griesel, son of David and Sarah Griesel of Howard.
