We all feel the strain from the inflation that is impacting our economy on some level. We have had to change our budgets, cut back and even simply say no to things that we have done for years. It isn’t a pleasant experience. Businesses are forced to pass along the added expenses to their consumers or face closure.
SHAWNEE – Whether grilled, smoked, poached, canned or dehydrated – wild foods procured from the Kansas outdoors will be on showcase at the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks’ (KDWP) bi-annual cooking competition in Lawrence on Saturday, June 8. The event will be hosted by KDWP and Baker University Wetlands Discovery Center.
During the annual Eureka Days event, Eureka Recreation Pickleball invites community members to come play and/or watch the activity on Saturday, June 1, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

It’s Eureka Days!
If you remember the summers when you were a kid fondly, what made them such happy memories?
Like all my peers, I possess a personal collection of storm stories. Thank God few of us will have to embrace such fearful images as folks in Sulfur and Barnsdall will have to carry from the past weeks. Homes and livelihoods destroyed; personal belongings scattered over the landscape. Irreplaceable family heirlooms sprinkled about like confetti.
