Who knew a filling could fall from a tooth while you were eating oatmeal? Well, they can and mine did. The event occasioned a visit to my dentist’s office.

Last call for the Greenwood County Fair!

What a busy weekend it was. The inaugural Clasen Family Memorial junior/senior golf tournament was held on Saturday and I would say it was a success! We had 27 teams and kicked off a tradition I hope to continue for years to come. Wes and I are grateful for the opportunity to take over such a fun golf tournament and are looking for additional fundraising options as we are planning to provide scholarships to area graduating seniors in the years to come. The idea of hosting the tournament wouldn’t have happened without Cindi Brubaker asking if I would like to continue the junior/senior tournament in honor of my parents, or my husband who assured me that we could host the event, even when I wasn’t sure we had the time to do so. Thank you to Wes for cooking on Saturday, Cathy Coon for making cookies, Sherry Hewitt and Riverside Liquor for donating some goodies and Cindi for paving the way with the Frank Graves Memorial Tournament. We are honored to continue this tradition. Thank you also to all those that participated! I’m excited to find additional ways to add to the event and raise money for scholarships for future graduates.

Now that summer is here, fresh fruits and vegetables are available everywhere, bringing with them the challenge of proper storage so we can enjoy every bite. The storage method that is utilized depends on the types of produce that you are keeping and where they are kept.

Although I am new to the City of Eureka, I have had the opportunity to surround myself with some very knowledgeable individuals and stakeholders throughout Eureka who all have one common goal in mind and that is taking pride in making Eureka better for everyone. To me as someone who is becoming acclimated with the city for the first time, I see the different views and passions of so many throughout the community. One thing that I had hoped when I accepted my position with the city was to build a team to strive and accomplish the many goals and objectives that the residents of Eureka are want- ing to attain. At first this team was assembled by the many great staff members who represent the City on a day to day basis and also the elected officials who give their many hours of volunteerism in those late night meetings that we participate in having every two weeks.

A third of the summer has come and gone, and just around the corner is the conclusion of baseball and softball season, the fourth of July and then school is back in session.
