Just like that, summer fun is wrapping up as students (and faculty/ staff) are returning to the classrooms for the 2024-25 school year. Area schools began last week, with Eureka USD 389 starting the new adventure this Thursday. Fall sports practices began on Monday of this week and before you know it, parents/guardians and fans will be busy throughout the week as they chase their favorite Tornado/Bulldog/Tiger/ Patriot.
With the rise of inflation, small businesses, including this one, have also had to make changes. Cutting back on services and decreasing expenses simply isn’t enough; however, we are slow to put it on our customers as we know the impact they are feeling. But, sometimes the rates have to be raised. Unfortunately, we at The Herald are losing readers due to inflation. Although the cost of the weekly edition is still below the cost of a drink or a candy bar, many have made the decision to cut it out of their routine.

This Friday and Saturday night, the place to be in your hometown - a must see event, is the annual rodeo! It will be the talk of the town for months to come and you won’t want to miss it! TOPEKA – An evidentiary hearing planned for this week in the Kansas Gas Service rate case will now be a settlement hearing. The Kansas Corporation Commission approved the change at their business meeting last Thursday.
