Meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans with a double side of banana pudding. Now that sounds like one of my wife’s meals or my mother’s or maybe the Stigler Café. But it isn’t. Who knew that such a meal could be prepared in the gourmet kitchen of a gas station? I don’t recall the gas stations of my youth having more than a coke case and a Tom’s jar with peanut butter crackers.
The Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club held their January monthly meeting on Jan. 7. The meeting was a parent led meeting. Roll call was answered by 14 members, six clover buds and two leaders. There were no communications. Annissa Boulanger gave the council report and gave the treasurer’s report.

Over the years I have, now and again, felt the need to evaluate my position. What I was doing just wasn’t working. I realize it is often just a part of the human condition. It will remain uncomfortable until examined. A self-critic.
It seems the topic on the lips of the community is the weather. This early spring or “fake spring” is bringing temperatures expected to be in the 80s this week… in FEBRUARY…in KANSAS!?! I don’t know how long this will last, but this sure beats the -20s we’ve experienced the last few winters here in the Flint Hills during calving season.
