The Tornadoes picked up their first win last Thursday, May 2, when they claimed a 9-7 victory over the Wildcats of Yates Center, at home.
Despite collecting 17 hits and 16 runs against the Wildcats of Yates Center last Thursday, May 2, the Tornado softball team fell to Yates Center, 7-18 and 9-11.
Eureka Track and Field traveled to Madison on April 26 and multiple athletes returned home with a medal.
The 2024 Junior Golf Program, sponsored by the Eureka Recreation Commission and the Eureka Country Club, will begin practice Thursday, May 23 and will then practice Tuesday, May 28, Thursday, May 30 and the following Monday’s in June: 3, 10, 17 and 24. Ages 9-11 will practice from 8 to 10 a.m., ages 12-18 will practice from 10 a.m. 12 p.m.
Fourth-sixth grade students at Marshall Elementary School, in Eureka, are scheduled to compete in the annual track meet on Friday, May 3. The event is slated to begin with running events at 9:30 a.m. and field events beginning at 12:45 p.m.
After suffering a knee injury at the end of this basketball season, Andover High School Senior Blake Rucker was unsure of his future in basketball, but knew he wasn’t finished yet. Last Week, B. Rucker signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Barton Community College (BCC) Cougars, in Great Bend.
For the eighth consecutive year, Eureka’s head high school Lady Tornadoes basketball coach, Shelly Hoyt, will host “Be Your Best” basketball camps, June 3-6 at Eureka Junior/Senior High School (EJSHS).
Postseason Action To Begin Next Week With Baseball Regionals
With baseball and softball seasons in full swing, The Wichita Eagle recently compiled a list of individuals and teams in the area to watch. Several Eureka Tornadoes and West Elk Patriots were on the list.
