The West Elk Patriot football team traveled to Central Burden last Friday, September 15, where the Patriots fell, 28-48.
The Eureka Junior High Tornado football team lost to the Humboldt Cubs 6-50 Thursday night at home. The Tornadoes were never really in the game, as the Cubs returned the opening kick-off for a touchdown. Eureka was never able to move the ball and was also not able to cope with the Cubs’ superior speed when on defense.
Monday, September 11, Tornado Golf traveled to Caney to participate in tournament play. As a team, the Tornadoes claimed 5th with a combined score of 444.
The MK Barrel Series held their final barrel races on Friday, September 15, at the Eureka Saddle Club arena.
The Lady Tornado high school volleyball team traveled to Marion on Saturday, September 16, to compete in the Marion volleyball tournament. Eureka went 0-4 for the day, finishing in eighth place.
The Tornadoes took on the Caney Bullpups on Friday and suffered a 16-58 defeat. There were flashes of a team that could compete in the future. Kalim Mouer was a bright spot scoring both of the touchdowns for the Tornadoes with runs from 38-yards and 85-yards out. While the score was one sided, the young Tornadoes found a way to continue to fight and improved in the second half.
The Madison Bulldogs defeated the Lebo Wolves 62-12 and finished the game after three quarters, last Friday, September 15, due to the mercy rule.
The Eureka Saddle Club held their fourth Shodeo for 2023 on Saturday, September 16, at 5 p.m.
Twenty-nine teams, with 111 golfers, traveled to Lewis Ranch on Saturday, August 26, for the 14th annual Beaumont Classic/ Pasture Golf Tournament.
