With hopes of the Eureka Junior/Senior High School Class of 2024 receiving multiple community scholarships, a special Senior Day assembly will be held this Friday, May 10, at 9:30 a.m.
Many people serve as caregivers to help a loved one manage an illness or injury. The senior housing resource A Place for Mom says, between 2015 and 2020, the number of unpaid caregivers increased from 43.5 million to more than 53 million. Many caregivers assist seniors, but some also help younger adults with physical or mental disabilities.

TOPEKA – The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) has scheduled two public hearings in June to give Kansas Gas Service customers an opportunity to learn more about the company’s recent rate increase request, ask questions and to make comments before the Commission.
Jennifer Watts presented the weekly report for the Road and Bridge Department, on Monday, May 6, during the weekly meeting of the Greenwood County Commission. Watts shared that cleaning and removal of debris from roads and bridges continues. Though this is ongoing, everything is now passable. Watts noted that pertinent data was collected and provided to Emergency Management Director Levi Vinson for submission to FEMA. The county will then wait to see if work/debris created in recent weather events will be accepted for receipt of funding.
Great teachers go above and beyond for their students. Students benefit from those efforts in the classroom, but many adults also can name one, two or even more educators whose lessons and enthusiasm for learning has benefitted them long after the final bell rang on their academic careers.
Members of the Eureka Junior Senior High School (EJSHS) Class of 2024 will participate in their final events as EJSHS students this week.
On Friday, May 10, the Madison High School National Honors Society will host a blood drive at the high school, located at 1550 Southwest Boulevard, in Madison, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
