A total of 40 teams and 155 golfers traveled to a pasture near Beaumont for the annual Beaumont Pasture golf tournament. The annual event is hosted by the Beaumont Communication Association and this year was hosted on the Lewis Ranch, with the help of Daryl, Judy and Linton Lewis. The proceeds from this tournament fund projects for the year including: scholarships, upkeep/expenses to the Beaumont Depot Community Center and support for community programs.

The East Central Kansas Model T (ECKMT) Club meets on the second Thursday of the month. The ECKMT’s will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12 in the conference room of the Burlington Library. National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated annually from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 in the United States. Started by Congress in 1968, when the event was a week-long recognition of Hispanic culture, the celebration became Hispanic Heritage Month in 1988.
