I learned a powerful idea about community in an African refugee camp near Somalia. As thousands of refugees streamed into the camp, I was surprised at how quickly they shared whatever food was given them. Our guide summed up their philosophy of a survival-based community with this Swahili phrase translated into English: “Today it’s me; tomorrow it’s you.”

Isn’t this rain awesome? To say it was desperately needed is an under statement. I noticed when traveling last week that some ponds are starting to refill! That’s a good sight to see. As is all the water puddles still standing.
The monthly meeting of the Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club was held October 1, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Eureka and was led by Wylee Boulanger. The flag salute and 4-H Pledge were led by Duke Coulter and Noah Everly- Burtin. Roll call was “What do you cook for yourself?” and was answered by 18 members, four cloverbuds and two leaders.
