Members of the Eureka City Council convened on Friday, December 8 for a special meeting to afford for the interview of City Administrator applicant, Edward Patton. After introductions were made to city officials, an executive session was held for the duration of 30 minutes, with City Clerk Renee Burk also in attendance. Following an additional 10 minutes with the same individuals remaining, appreciation was voiced to Patton for his interest in the position.
During his regular report on Monday, December 11, Road and Bridge Superintendent John Schouten provided an update to commissioners in regards to ongoing items and regular operations.
The holiday season involves making holiday gift lists and checking them twice, or even more frequently to ensure that gift-givers find the best fit for recipients. While age may only be a number in certain instances, when it comes to gifting, age should be a consideration — particularly when kids are involved.
Eureka Main Street, along with Travel and Tourism, is sponsoring a business/building Christmas decorating contest in the coming weeks. Businesses/ buildings on Main Street will compete against one another while businesses/ buildings on River Street will compete against each other. Those wishing to participate must sign up at the City Clerk’s Office by this Friday, December 1.
Last Friday, December 8, Miranda Colangelo, of Eureka, was recognized as “Community Member of the Month” for her efforts in bettering the community.
