Junior High West Elk Patriot Wrestlers Held Short Season

The West Elk Junior High Patriots held a short wrestling season last month, going to four tournaments in a week’s time.

The West Elk Junior High Patriots held a short wrestling season last month, going to four tournaments in a week’s time.

The Patriots began their season at Remington and concluded the season at a home tournament. West Elk also competed at Douglass and Chase County.

Following are the results for West Elk participants at Douglass and Chase County. Results from Remington and West Elk were unavailable at the time of publication.

Douglass JH Mixer Girls 6: Haylee Knight placed 3rd. She lost by fall to Briley Cannon (Council Grove) (Fall 0:44); lost by fall to Allison Biurquez (Douglass) (Fall 2:24); and won by fall over Kandance Zirkell (Chase County) (Fall 0:44).

Girls 8: Zoey Payton placed 3rd. She lost by fall to Kelsey Schouten (Douglass) (Fall 0:47); lost by fall to Betsy Doornbos (Council Grove) (Fall 2:25); and won a 12-7 decision over Kassidy Krueger (Chase County).

Girls 9: Serinity Bahr placed 4th. She lost a 9-13 decision to Ava Rivera (Chaparral); lost by fall to MiyaWilson(Douglass)(Fall0:19); and lost by fall to Carly Welcher (Council Grove) (Fall 1:23).

Boys 3: Collin Cordell placed 4th. He lost a 2-11 major decision to Tucker Smith (Council Grove); lost by fall to Brayden Martinez (Burden-Central) (Fall 0:32); and lost by fall to Nathan Grossenbacher (Council Grove) (Fall 0:40).

Boys 4: Welch Murphy placed 1st. He won by fall over Clayton Hodges (Douglass) (Fall 0:43); won by fall over Parker Ziegenhirt (Council Grove) (Fall 1:24); and won by fall over Aiden Bruner (Oxford) (Fall 2:46).

Boys 5: Guy Denton placed 3rd. He lost by fall to Clancy Morehead (Cheney) (Fall 0:20); won an 8-7 decision over Mason Brown (Burden-Central); and lost a 5-7 decision to Owen Dedonder (Council Grove).

Boys 10: Ethan Wade placed 3rd. He won by fall over Aj Johnson (Council Grove) (Fall 0:41); lost by fall to Valentino Garcia- Donis (Douglass) (Fall 2:17); and lost by fall to Dylan Hanson (Burden-Central) (Fall 0:44).

Boys 15: Corbin Arbuckle placed 4th. He lost by fall to Gage Jones (Remington) (Fall 0:35); lost a 1-16 tech fall to Easton Stohs (Council Grove); and lost by fall to Donald Romme (Kingman) (Fall 0:30).

Boys 16: Jayton Bogdahn placed 3rd. He won by fall over James Archer (Remington) (Fall 0:34); lost by fall to Jacob Chapple (Remington) (Fall 1:53); and lost by fall to Landen Witte (Cheney) (Fall 1:48).

Chase County Junior Invitational Men 90: Collin Cordell lost by fall to Tucker Smith (Council Grove) (Fall 1:45); received a bye; and lost by fall to Dylon Smith (Burden-Central) (Fall 1:56).

Men 100/105: Welch Murphy placed 1st. He won by fall over Cash Roberts (Burlingame) (Fall 0:28); won by fall over Clayton Hodges (Douglass) (Fall 0:34); and won by fall over Dillon Mc-Diffett (Council Grove) (Fall 0:38).

Men 100/105: Guy Denton lost by fall to Parker Ziegenhirt (Council Grove) (Fall 0:49); and lost a 0-4 decision to Tristan Hitt (Burlingame).

Men 120: Ethan Wade lost by fall to Chance Fisher (Douglass) (Fall 1:53); received a bye; and lost by fall to George Mascote (Council Grove) (Fall 0:11).

Men 134: Corbin Arbuckle placed 4th. He received a bye; lost by fall to Jacob Chapple (Remington) (Fall 0:48); won an 8-0 major decision over Lane Jenkins (Flint Hills); and lost by fall to Keegan Hoelting (Mission Valley) (Fall 0:31).

Men 141: Jayton Bogdahn lost by fall to Carter Mann (Chase County) (Fall 0:29); received a bye; and lost by fall to Micah Giles (Remington) (Fall 1:27).

Women 134: Zoey Payton lost an 11-12 decision to Allison Biurquez (Douglass); and lost by fall to Makinley Sanders (Stafford) (Fall 2:15).

Women 134B: Serenity Bahr placed 2nd. She won by fall over Kaydence Howey (Mission Valley) (Fall 2:56); won a 9-0 major decision over Kiara O’Harra (West Franklin); and lost by fall to Kadance Zirkell (Chase County) (Fall 0:44).
