The Emporia Community Foundation (ECF) has selected Linda Kehres to serve as the new Executive Director, succeeding Becky Nurnberg. Kehres brings a wealth of experience from the nonprofit world with an extensive background of growing partnerships and enhancing communities.

On Monday, Feb. 5 Greenwood County Commissioners heard from Greenwood County Hospital (GWCH) CEO Sandra Dickerson (appearing by Zoom) who discussed the recent announcement of the upcoming closure of CareArc.

After entering a guilty plea to two counts, aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated indecent liberties with a child, last December, 17-year-old Tyler Buck, of Eureka, appeared before Greenwood County District Court by Chief Judge David Ricke last Wednesday, Jan. 31, for sentencing.
Members of the Eureka City Council convened for two special meetings last week in regards to the vacant City Administrator position. Both meetings were called to afford for discussion of the employment contract.
Last Friday, Feb. 2, Hamilton and Madison crowned their 2024 Winter Royalty King and Queen, following the basketball games against Northern Heights.
