In many parts of the country, April marks a return to warm temperatures, landscapes marked by blooming foliage and perhaps even a colorful flower or two. April also signals tax season, a notion that may elicit different reactions than warmer weather and budding plants, particularly among those who do not anticipate receiving a tax refund.

Living By Five P’s
The sun was enormous on Monday morning, as I typed this column. Itlooked like the start of a beautiful day. Wasn’t the weekend great? We got rain on Saturday and Sunday was an almost perfect day. A little less wind would’ve been better, but hey this is Kansas!
The Fancy Mustangs 4-H Club held their monthly meeting on Sunday, March 3. The club had a joint meeting with the Harmony Sunflowers.
The Eureka Junior-Senior Prom will be held Friday, April 12, from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Greenwood County Hospital (GWCH) Auxiliary met for their monthly meeting on April 1 in the hospital basement.
To paraphrase Oscar Hammerstein – “The halls are alive with the sound of music!” That is certainly the case in the Sterling College Music Department these days as no less than five graduating seniors are busy preparing for their senior music recitals.
EMPORIA – CrossWinds Counseling and Wellness announced the return of its second annual comedy night fundraiser, Celebrate CrossWinds: Stand Up to Stigma! The event is scheduled for Friday, May 3, at the historic Emporia Granada Theatre.
