He was born on January 15, 1955, in Chanute, the son of Marvin Robert, Sr., and Betty Violet (Scott) Repstine. He was raised in Humboldt and Beverly, in his early life. The family moved to Eureka in the early ‘60s. Bud graduated from Eureka High School with the Class of 1973. He later attended Butler County Community College and Wichita State University.

Bud has the distinction of being the last Chief of Police of Eureka, during the transition to Sheriff’s Department coverage. He eventually transferred to the Sheriff’s Department as well where he was a deputy and later court services officer. In 1991, he began working for the El Dorado Correctional Facility. He retired in 2020 as a Staff Sergeant.

Bud spent many hours teaching the Hunter’s Education Course, for which he was a certified Master Educator. He served as Scoutmaster for Troop 216 Boy Scouts of Eureka and was a member of the Christian & Congregational Church. He was always even tempered and laid back. He loved teaching scouts and adults, racing his drag car and hunting and fishing. He took his children and his grandchildren hunting and fishing at every opportunity. He will be remembered as a great father, husband and brother.

Bud is survived by his wife, Kathy of the home; two children: Angela and husband, Dustin Randolph of Wichita; and Robert and wife, Danica Repstine of El Dorado; two grandchildren: Seanna and Ruby; and one sister, Barbara Mistler of Benton.
