Marilyn Sue Brown

Marilyn Sue Brown

Marilyn Sue Brown of Eureka, died on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 66.

She was born on October 29, 1957, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Jesse Rowlett and Florence Vernell (Ashley) Brown. She called Vinita, Oklahoma home for most of her younger years. She also spent some time in Bluejacket and Welch, adding some variety to her childhood adventures. On March 18, 1976, Marilyn was united in marriage to Donald Paul Jarman. They made their home in Bartlett, Kansas.

She graduated from Welch High School with the Class of 1976. To this union, three children were born. This marriage later ended in divorce.

Marilyn possessed a playful spirit, always seeking a touch of luck with the lottery and the thrill of the casino. However, her true passions bloomed outside the realm of chance. She delighted in the beauty of flowers, the sweetness of candy, and the joy of creating through crafting.

Marilyn’s life was a testament to her dedication to care and creativity. Within the medical field, she served as a CNA at various care facilities in the Vinita area, providing a compassionate presence and essential support to patients. This nurturing spirit wasn’t confined to her professional role. She found joy in expressing her artistic side through floral arrangements, transforming blooms into vibrant expressions of beauty. Furthermore, she readily extended a helping hand to friends and family. She embraced the opportunity to babysit for them, while also offering invaluable care for their elderly loved ones. Through these diverse roles, Marilyn left a lasting impression on those who knew her, remembered not only for her skills but also for her genuine warmth and willingness to go the extra mile.

She is survived by her daughters, Crystal Stewart of Eureka; and Kara DeVore of Eureka; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two siblings: Jannis Brown of Eureka; and Jerry Brown of Oklahoma; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Michael Jarman; six siblings: Jesse Ray Brown, Jim Brown, Dorothy Epperson, Harvey Brown, Vernice Catron, and Florencie May Brown; and five half-siblings: Virginia Brown, Sylvester Brown, James Brown, Nancy Jarvis, and Evelyn Flannigan.
