He was born on January 31, 1932, in Cañon City, Colo., the son of Rolly and Florence (Lammon) Rupe. He was primarily raised by his mother and stepfather, Erle Ottman in Colorado and later attended Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri. He then attended Wichita State University where he graduated with a Bachelors in Geology. In February 1954, Glen was united in marriage to Caroline Womer in Wichita. They made their home in Wichita and later Oklahoma where Glen attended the University of Oklahoma for Petroleum Engineering. He started his business working in Midland, Texas doing oil and gas exploration. They lived all around Texas and returned to Wichita in the late 50s. To this union, three children were born. Caroline preceded him in death in 2011.

In the later chapters of his life, Glen found love and companionship again with his Linda. On November 30, 2013, Glen was united in marriage to Linda Lynn (Lippincott) Talbott in Wichita. They made their home in Wichita. They shared cherished moments together for the past eleven years. Glen wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, and his unfiltered honesty, often delivered with a twinkle in his eye, could leave you both surprised and endeared. He was a dedicated worker, a tireless go-getter who could outlast most men half his age. Glen was an outdoorsman at heart, finding peace and exhilaration in nature. He often fly fished for an elusive trout on a hidden stream and in fact fished at various places across the globe. He was happiest with a loyal dog by his side, a trusty rod in his hand, and the promise of adventure in the crisp morning air. Glen had a generous heart and a deep love for his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He was a member of the Kansas Geological Society, the Oklahoma Geological Society, and the National Audubon Society.

Glen’s family wishes to thank his loving and loyal caregivers. Marlene, Pam and Barbara were especially dedicated to him, giving him excellent care, and offering love, joy, and hope during his most difficult years.

He is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; three children: Randy Rupe of Eureka; Becca Dunne of Eureka; and Tobin Rupe of Andover; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and half-brother, Jim Rupe of Grand Junction, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Caroline and siblings: Garland Rupe, Donald Rupe and Loretta (Rupe) Rankin.

Private graveside services were held on Sunday, May 5, at the Rupe Family Cemetery, in rural Eureka. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Guadelupe Clinic.
