Raymond “Chip” Neil Prewitt, Jr.,

Raymond “Chip” Neil Prewitt, Jr.,

Raymond “Chip” Neil Prewitt, Jr., 66, of Andover, passed away on Jan. 4, 2025. He was born on Oct. 7, 1958, in Wichita, to Raymond Neil and Melba I. (Winey) Prewitt, Sr.

Chip graduated from Flinthills High School in 1976 and went on to become a certified mechanic and worked on all kinds of vehicles from old farm trucks to Mercedes for the first half of his career. He spent over 20 years working in aircraft manufacturing at Cessna and later retiring from Spirit Aerosystems.

A man of many talents, Chip was a passionate leatherworker, creating beautiful and intricate designs that he shared with family and friends. He also had a deep love for the outdoors, especially camping. Chip spent countless weekends at Melvern Lake, El Dorado Lake and Fall River Lake, where he made lasting memories with those he loved.

An avid fan of old Westerns, Chip admired the rugged spirit of John Wayne and shared a deep patriotism for his country, America. He was a man of great integrity—honest, loyal, and organized—always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Chip was especially devoted to his family, regularly traveling long distances to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events, offering support and encouragement.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica (Ron) Indermuehle, and their children, Joseph and Alivia; his brothers, John (Kim) Prewitt and Jerry (Gigi) Prewitt; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant son, Clay Prewitt.

Funeral services were held at the Cassoday Community Church on Monday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m. Burial followed at Cassoday Cemetery, where he was laid to rest beside his son, Clay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cassoday Community Church.
